Notes by Leslie Halliwell from sources other than his Film Guide:

A brief quotation from LH, regarding this classic Laurel & Hardy short:

‘…their short masterpiece, The Music Box… won an Academy Award in 1932.  Here it takes them three reels to get a piano to a house atop a flight of steps – and of course to wreck everything in sight.  If you haven’t seen it, you haven’t lived.  And if you ever go to Los Angeles, that flight of steps is still very much in evidence, and Sons of the Desert flock to it every weekend in pilgrimage.’
